Well, good news and bad news. The bad news is that I have decided against going further with this solution. One of the best features of this extension is that it works on pretty much all installations. Combining Gradio and another framework requires trickery that I think will not work on every system. Not to mention, it keeps getting more complicated quickly. The good news is, that Gradio released their major version 4. The most promising new feature for me is something they call "Custom Components". This should hopefully enable me to implement those things that just weren't possible until now. |

I have been quiet for a while because I have been working on a major upgrade.
The biggest challenge this extension faced from the start was its dependence on Gradio.
Gradio has some benefits for certain tasks (such as quick development), but it is really poor as an image viewer.
As a consequence, most of the effort had to be spent on forcing Gradio to do what it was not designed to do. The outcomes were often not satisfactory, slow and very limited.
What I have done now is to explore if I can replace the entire Gradio UI with a modern UI, while still being integrated into a1111 as before.
Usually, adding another technology besides python, javascript and Gradio would increase the complexity. But in this case, anything that does not involve twisting Gradio in ways it does not like will reduce complexity.
I am confident now that I can do that.
Some more benefits of this are: Infinite Browsing, being able to select images for batch action, zoom, ...
Here is a sneak peek of my pre-alpha version.

This is still in its early stages and I have no idea yet when it will be ready. Stay tuned!
