First, I want to express my gratitude for the amazing and fast browser you have developed. It's fantastic to see such an excellent fork of Mozilla Firefox. I have noticed the browser's excellence and how lightweight it is. However, I have made a few observations, and based on those, I would like to ask some questions that I hope this community can address.
Before using Mercury, I used Firefox 125. Here is a comparison table:
Firefox - 125 - Open Tabs: 74 - Memory Usage: 1,153.8MB - CPU Load: 0%
Mercury - 123.0.1 Open Tabs: 73 - Memory Usage: 1,970.9MB - CPU Load: 6.8%
Extensions: 1password, ublock origin, Guestify, Grammarly, Privacy Badger (the same for both browsers).
I want to clarify that the same URL was open on both browsers.
Q1. Why is Mercury's memory consumption higher? Is this because the latter version of Firefox has memory improvements? Could something else impact memory utilization?
Q2. Why do I see a higher CPU load on Mercury?
Q3. Initially, I installed Mercury and ran a Speedometer 3.0 test. The results on my PC (Intel NUC 12th Gen i7 with 64GB RAM) were:
Mercury (no tabs running besides the Speedometer 3.0 test): 10.81
Firefox with 74 tabs running: 7.84
Mercury with 74 tabs running: 6.84
In this case, why does Mercury have a lower score than Firefox? Is this due to the optimization in Firefox 125?
