Block Widget: add block button must be clicked twice when in mobile layout #64536

Quick summary

If user is in the mobile layout, the + button must be clicked twice in order to bring into view the block inserter.

Steps to reproduce

prereq. use a mobile device or mobile layout emulation in Developer Tools.

  1. log in.
  2. navigate to Appearance > Widget.
  3. click on the + button

What you expected to happen

The block inserter is shown immediately.

What actually happened

The + button and the block area around it shifts upwards slightly.
The block inserter is not shown.

This report was found during a recent backlog sweep.

📌 SCRUBBING : RESULT - Replicated / Could Not Replicate / Uncertain

  • Tested on Simple via Mobile Safari - Replicated

  • Replicated as described. Tapping the + icon first selects that Widget area, then tapping again clicks the + block inserter.
