[Instructions] Reverting to previous version / Installing specific commit

Since this is asked all the time for various reasons, here's how to revert to a previous version:

IMPORTANT: I've installed Python and use venv (virtual enviroment), cloning the github repository manually, instead of using the windows_run.bat, which uses anaconda/miniconda to create the enviroment. I don't know, if the following "git reset --hard" command works in an anaconda/miniconda enviroment. Additions on if and how are very welcome.

So I'll take you through the WHOLE process.

Basic install:

• Install Python (with launcher and "add python to PATH")
• Run cmd.exe (just enter "cmd" in start menu search, it will show up)
• You'll probably be in "C:\Windows\system32" now. Enter "cd.." (switch to parent directory) twice. Now you're at "C:". Enter the following commands:
• "python -m venv roopnew" -> creates a new virtual enviroment in "C:\roopnew"
• "cd roopnew", "cd scripts", "activate" -> Activates the enviroment
• "cd..", "git clone https://github.com/C0untFloyd/roop-unleashed.git" -> clones the repository to C:\roopnew\roop-unleashed
• "cd roop-unleashed", "pip install -r requirements.txt" -> Installs everything needed

Now you've installed the newest version. Here's how to revert to a previous version:

• On the main roop-unleashed site, head to "commits"
  
• Browse to the date / commit, which worked best for you. In this example, it will revert to the commits made on Aug 12. Everything that came after that, will be ignored.
  
• Open cmd, head to your "roopnew" folder, activate as shown above and head to the "roop-unleashed"-folder
• "git reset --hard 86375a3"

That's it. You have reverted to the version from Aug 12. Enter "python run.py", have fun.

Substitute for windows_run.bat:

• Open Editor, copy/paste this:

cd scripts
call activate.bat
cd..
cd roop-unleashed
python run.py
pause

• Save as yourdesiredname.bat in your "roopnew"-folder. Make a shortcut on your desktop or wherever you want.

Additions, simplifications or corrections are very welcome. Sorry if I'm overcomplicating / overexplaining things. I'm having a really bad adhd-day :/

Thanks, every tagged release also contains a zipped archive with the complete source of that version. For example here is the latest v3.0.5 which could just be unzipped into the roop-unleashed folder if you're annoyed about version v6.6.6 sometime in the future.

Thanks @C0untFloyd, I was just looking around on how to upgrade/revert, good to know you can just unzip the latest version into roop-unleashed folder!

You're welcome :) If someone could test the "git reset --hard" command on a "standard windows_run.bat"-installation with miniconda and report back here, that would be nice. If so, I can remove the basic installation part. Since C0untFloyd did such a nice job making an automated installation for everyone, that would be the best combination. If it works, you can go back to the newest commit easily with a "git pull".

I'm on a standard windows install. I think i followed this correctly and it seems to have sent me back to a previous version, but I get an error when try to launch it. reverted from 3.3.4 to 2.7.0 and now i get a ModuleNotFoundError: no module named 'tensorflow'

Do you know what was the last commit before you swapped codeformer to ONNX? I pretty much always used codeformer once I had dialed in my settings and source headshot because it offered best quality for videos but ever since the change it's actually the worst option and GFPGAN tends to give back results with teeth in videos. I'd rather wait 5x longer with the older codeformer implementation that run the new variant.
