Essential metadata and data for ingestion into CODA

A list of metadata requested & meanings/suggested equivalents

• accession_number (unique identifier for the source dataset)
• dataset_id (broad grouping of data type, eg, bottle/rosette/net; ctd; xbt; xctd)
• latitude
• longitude
• date/time stamp (or year/month/day/hour/minute)
• indicator of date/time zone (eg, UTC)
• probe_type (for example XBT probe type such as Sippican Deep Blue or CTD type such as Seabird 93 etc)
• recorder (if applicable, for example XBT Sippican Mk21 or Turo Quoll recorders)
• country (can be inferred for some datasets)
• dbase_originator (eg, WOD or MNF, can be inferred for some datasets)
• Project_name (if available)
• platform (ship name or mooring deployment name etc)
• vehicle (could be glider type eg Slocum. Might overlap)
• Institute (who collected the data)

A list of Data types we are interested in and associated attributes:

• temperature
• salinity
• nutrients (nitrate, nitrite, silicate, phosphate, ammonia etc)
• dissolved oxygen
• pressure/depth
• all units that are associated with the variables
• Any quality control flags and their meanings
• any uncertainty values
