When you take damage from fusion overcharging on the same tick that you take other damage, the fusion overcharging takes priority and credits you with a suicide rather than your opponent a kill.
I want to take a look at the priority order to make sure shield powerups are applied before fusion charging, but generally the resolution to this will be not applying any overcharge damage if you're already below 0 shields.
