compactcode-base is used by compactcode/intercom, a Magento 2 module. Magento 2's recommended PHP version is 7.3 (as seen here) yet this package states it does not support PHP 7.3. Therefore, one cannot use CompactCode/Intercom while running Magento 2 on its preferred PHP version.
