Description

the app uses emoji2.compat for missing emojis, which for android 11 and lower can be not so bad though many redesigns were added in a12.

the problem is on a11 few redesigned emojis are and they dont really fit with the old design from a8. also users on a12 would be able to get updated emoji fonts without having to update their software, unlike a11 and low.

the idea:

as i know the emoji2 support can be used for emoji text views and emoji picker, but also can be used to show all from the compat font THAN JUST MISSING ONES.

Alternatives

i believe compat works only a11 and low, as they mentioned only a12 and above get the font update from gms.

it shouldn't cause any issues to user, but on a11 and low they would see the difference though.

so, the alternatives...

none, it depends on how it's choosen. users who just don't get the updates may not be disappointed rather excited to see newer version of the emojis.

I think this would be a great addition because...

something that would require a software update that's uncertain, can be available to those who still don't. like me 🥺

Solution

I think this could be done by...

making compat show all glyphs than just missing one (usually for a11 unicode 13.5~ 14, and 15; for a10 13, 13.5~ 14, and 15; a9 12, 13, 13.5~ 14, and 15 etc.; and continuous to the unknown).
