Technical roundtable for EOS Node Operators

• This week, Matthew from EOS Nation has proposed a discussion on what statistics should be added to the prometheus exporter in Leap 4.0. We had a productive discussion that will continue next week.

• The problem:

  • nodeEOS is a black box, we have no idea what's happening, let's provide some statistics
  • Bring your list of what you'd like to have in prometheus

• An original draft for architecture (updates have likely happened since this)

• Another historical list requested by Matthew

• Example nodeos monitoring dashboard leveraging prometheus data

Statistics/features to add to the prometheus exporter in Leap 4.0

• Ability to configure how deep you monitor
• minimize impact to node while gathering statistics (run it on a different thread)
• everything we're currently logging
• get info - head block, LIB, etc.
• configs of the nodes - runtime, is OC enabled, is console logging on, the features
• block logs - full node or trimmed node
• In the future, some alternative get info endpoint that formats the data as json
