yet another volume issue with the E1744

I have 5 units of the Ikea E1744 and used them with AwesomeHA for a while with great joy but suddenly ( a weeks months ago ) I started to have issues similar to others with the volume going all the way up or all the way down with a simple turn of the knob.. only 1/16 turn will generate the sound to reach to 100%.

• using Z2M(most people I found online having issues used ZHA),
• I have legacy set to false,
• tried various debounce values, if placing debouce value directly in z2m the automation stop working altogether..
• reinstalled the blueprints,
• deleted the helper and recreated a new one, with a longer text
• used a different remote, updated the remote, connected to the ikea gateway, and repaired with z2m....

I'm really out of ideas now and would really appreciate any guidance or next step suggestions..
