I have a small open source framework that I'm using Bootstrap and Font Awesome out of the box and I would like to start experimenting with the recent release candidate of Bootstrap 3 and I would like to know what's the official approach to the new naming and use of the fonts. Should we switch to something like awesome-heart for the namings instead of the generic icon-?

If there is any early access I would like to participate :)

Yes, @davegandy paired icons in 3.2.0 but the new syntax will be introduced in 4.0.0 branch (for backward compatibilities and semantic versioning's sake).

Here is the "official" bootstrap 3.0 issue, closed for now: #940
