Additional help on Source Google Cast (Chromecast)

Hello everyone,

Would anyone be able to share a complete configuration file for Google Cast?

I've been working on setting it up but haven’t had any success so far. Here are more details about my environment:

**I'm using multi-scrobbler:pr-203 due to the fix on the YTmusic Auth.

I tried to leave whitelistedDevices empty as well.

This error can occur if dbus is not running, the container does not have proper permissions to use dbus, or dbus is located elsewhere on your host system such as at /run/dbus or /opt/local/var/run/dbus.

It would help if you provided details about the host OS.

If your OS uses systemd check if dbus is running using systemctl status dbus.service

Verify the location of dbus. On my host it looks like this:

Alternatively, manually specify the cast devices in your config and remove avahi/dus as volumes to avoid using mdns entirely:

Thanks for the manual setup provided, it worked flawlessly, so, using avahi is not a must for me. Just in case you want to know, I´m sharing more details about my host OS below.

After testing the Chromecast a little bit further, I found another issue. When I'm casting content from the YouTube Music on my phone, it works great, but I'm intending to use YTMuisc as a source for that. My real intent on chromecast is scrobble from Music Assistant, a module of Home Assistant. I'm not sure why, but everytime I play from YTMusic thru Music Assistant it's not recorded on YTMusic History, so I'm looking for a away around. MS seems a perfect sollution, where I can filter only the Music Assistant application to be scrobbled using chromecast, and the rest can be scrobbled thru YTMusic Source on MS.

When I'm playing from Music Assistant on a cast device, this error occurs on MS:

Host Information

I'm running an Ubuntu Server 22.04.5 VM on Proxmox.

I checked the dbus service as you suggested with the command systemctl status dbus.service, and it appears to be running properly:

Regarding the dbus directory, my output is similar to yours, with the exception of the containers:

I also set my container to run with PUID and PGID set to 0. I’m not sure if this is the best approach to ensure the container has the necessary resource access.
