There seems to be an issue using ember-c3 with angle bracket invocation in Ember 2.4+ . See issue #emberjs/ember.js#17549

Angle bracket invocation for ember-c3 will be documented after the issue is resolved

Angle bracket invocation was documented along with the Ember bug that prevents use before Ember 3.8
