Possible uses for a %%vql or similar cell magic:

  • Enter Viatra query definitions with the help of syntax highlighting (via CodeMirror)
  • Focus on ad-hoc report generation workflows, where (instead of pre-written patterns) the user repeatedly edits, evaluates, revises, re-evaluates etc. their queries, that may even be automatically evaluated by the magic cell that specifies them (see e.g. jupyter_drill)
