Boosted v5.2.3 is here! — following Bootstrap v5.2.3 — This version is based on the patch release of Bootstrap limited to urgent bug fixes. We took the opportunity to also add specific Boosted content including a lot of bug fixes, documentation updates and some new features.
Please review the GitHub v5.2.3 changelog for a complete list of changes since our previous release, and have a look at Boosted website in version 5.
Don't hesitate to use our migration guide from v5.2.2 to v5.2.3 where you'll find all the needed details to bump the Boosted dependency.
Accessibility
We worked with the designers and a11y experts on the visible focus (triggered with the keyboard) to improve its accessibility and its global rendering for more consistency.
Bye bye the orange outline. It is now replaced with a black outer outline and white inner box shadow on a light background (which is inverted of course on dark background). The transition animation has also been removed.
New 'Pages' example section
There's a new 'Pages' example section where we plan to add the Pages described in the DSM.
You can find our first example of this type: Form example:
New form helper
Lots of projects use our forms and need to display a helper next to the labels. We've added a Form helper in Boosted to help you do this kind of things.
Enhanced documentation
Our guides for Parcel, Vite and Webpack have been updated to add Boosted specificities.
More important, as Boosted is based on Bootstrap, you'll find in Boosted all Bootstrap's components and their variants, but with an Orange branded look.
Among those inherited components and variants, some exist in the Orange Design System and fully respect its design specifications and some don’t. Those ones should not be used in your projects to ensure a consistent user experience throughout our Orange web services.
As for maintainability reasons we have to keep them in this documentation, we tagged them with red informational design callouts. They inform you of what should not be used from an Orange design point of view. They suggest, when available, a replacement solution and/or a link to the Orange Design System website to see other possibilities.
Design callouts message example:
This is the first batch of these callouts, our documentation will contain more of them in v5.3.0.
Don't hesitate to give us your opinion on this while we continue working on it.
You can contribute
Orange developers and users, be our guests! Play with everything and we'd be pleased to have new issues on GitHub to spot some bugs or suggest features and improvements, and get in touch with us on Orange internal communication tool.
You can contribute at any time! Check our "easy pick" label that label could help you to find some easy tasks for your first contribution.
You can also take a look at Boosted boards to follow our progress.
Bootstrap team is currently working on the v5.3.0 that won't be released soon. As usual, we will integrate their commits in our main branch and continue working on Boosted specific components, utilities, examples, etc.
