Story:

43-year-old Brendan Smith is a researcher interested in studying smoking habits among smokers. He wants to be able to work with a pool of pre-annotated (ie: if smoking is the action of interest, the time-series data has been marked to show where smoking occurs) data that marks when smoking occurs, how many puffs a person takes, and at what rate. He does not have the time to annotate the data himself, and his research study would like to not have to spend the time or money to collect the data samples.

Profile:

Age: 43
Profession: Researcher in College of Health and Sciences at Brown University
Education: PhD. in Biomedicine
From: Minneapolis, Minnesota
Income: $95k annual

Goals:

Understanding smoking patterns among smokers without the hassel of data collection or annotation.

  • As Brendan, I need access to pre-annotated data with regards to smoking. The data needs to be in a file format that I can run easy Python or R scripts to analyze.
  • As Brendan, I need to be able to use the web version to download the data I want.
  • As Brendan, I would like to be able to post any models my team creates, so as to help the research community. These models will allow for better recognition of smoking activities, or could try to associate other variables with smoking habits.
