twig filter not working in twig template

I want to add
{{ page.content|toc }}
to a page template but it is not processed.

the marker [TOC] works within the page

I think, this has something to do with https://github.com/Sommerregen/grav-plugin-toc/blob/master/toc.php#L149 due to null result of $this->grav['page']. But I will dig into it further.
