Change output directory for figures

One problem currently with the output directory is that it will make the repo dirty if users run the examples. We will need to change those to a user defined directory. This might be as simple as having the user add a path to the script, e.g. path = "mypath".

I think this is probably fine for now. For the purposes of documentation, the benchmark scripts now output a smaller subset of plots. This should also be better for git history.
