I spent some time playing around with the dark mode setting. The previous aqua colored sidebar was clashing a bit with the red logo. I think we need a neutral grayish/black to go with the red. Below are two screenshots comparing a gray and black sidebar. The black sidebar looks best to my eye, but there are some issues with the rest of the site being gray. The "categories", "author", and "date" fields appear as a gray font, and I couldn't figure out how to adjust this in quarto. @UW-Madison-DataScience/nexus-developers anyone willing to spend some time playing around with different color schemes for the dark mode setting? My opinion is we should find something to go with the black sidebar (and/or find a way to adjust font color of fields that appear gray), but I'm no design expert. I think dark mode sidebars typically use a lighter color for the sidebar, and a darker color for the main text. So maybe my approach isn't ideal. Willing to see a few other options. I just couldn't make many options work with the red logo.
