Interlocking Structure Generation
This new setting enables you to interlock multiple materials together, even if those materials are not compatible, contributed by @BagelOrb. Try it for yourself with this test model.

Brim per Material
A brim can now be printed with multiple materials in the same model, contributed by @BagelOrb

Updated Recommended Print Settings Menu
The number of settings available in the recommended has expanded. The redesign will make it easier to use intent profiles or save custom profiles.

Known critical issues:

• Under certain angles, the Interlocking Structures are not effective, yet.
• The Gcode Reader Plug-in is broken since Cura 5.2, and will not load gcodes correctly yet.
• Some models have been slicing slower since Cura 5.1. Slice in 5.2.1 takes 4 minutes of 100% CPU where it only takes 15 seconds in 4.13.1 #14108
• Reports have been coming in that Cura is running slow on Windows 11 5.2.1 freezes when trying to open the application #13820
• Multiple external monitors on Windows (especially if from the same brand) might be a problem under some circumstances.

If you are looking for an AppImage for your Linux OS we recommend UltiMaker-Cura-5.3.0-beta.1-linux.AppImage. If you run into issues with launching your AppImage, we have UltiMaker-Cura-5.3.0-beta.1-linux-modern.AppImage.asc ready as an alternative.

Any chance the update is causing the platform to park pushed all the way forward instead of back during filament changes, and not retracting the filament before the nozzle cools? Being able to add gcode will be handy, but right not it's harder to change the filament, and I have some projects with 8 different colors.

at the begin of this year I saw PrusaSlice is adding organic support and after some weeks of waiting I was shocked when I saw the result the first time
when I saw your alpha I thought it was a joke to tease the prusa-guys ;-P
replacing the old support with that "xmas-tree" would be really strange - I don't see a reason to remove a great feature just because another feature was added

the main reason I admire the "old tree" is why it can fix it self - so I can print at high speed and when something goes wrong 10 layers after all is fine again
printing all this single round trees seems to be buch more dangerous on big objects and if 1-2 layer fail on one tree you may have to cancel the print
also the printer is louder on this single circles with fast travels to the next tree instead of one big oval move as the old support does
on the models I tested the new tree also creates support when I'm sure it's not possible to print it - I didn't try as it needs a day of printing to reach that point

I think the "new tree" (i really how you just rename the old one to "organic") is nice for some models and there is a lot of potential but it's not the best option for me
on my model it also seems the old is faster

I attached some screens (I really like the last where I created some x-mas-tree-like) and will also give some feedback on the other thread

почему то не работает накат когда толщина стенки кратна меньше 3-х диаметров сопла....а расстояние очистки внешних стенок вообще не работает...
(GOOGL) for some reason, the knurling does not work when the wall thickness is a multiple of less than 3 nozzle diameters....and the cleaning distance of the outer walls does not work at all...

Constantly getting error when slicing with this version. I have tried both in tree support and normal. I keep having to use the older version. I have a flsun v400 profile

i have a lot of probles also since Cura 5.2..
check if the tree has enough space - f.e. when when you use Support Roof/Floor the distance from support-bottom to top needs to be high enough
so if your model is close to the build-plate there may just be to less space
..but sometime I also got errors like that I couldn't explain..

It looks like support isn't generated for thin structures with a steep angle. This used to work fine on 5.2.2 and 5.3.0 alpha (x-mas) and doesn't anymore on 5.3.0 beta2. No matter the settings, that bottom edge of the wings won't get supported. Attached you can find the project file.

Hi, I see brim is now printing from the inside out, this is causing a problem for me, because with the Bowden setup I have, the filament needs more time to start extruding correctly, so I end up with a mess around the part, and the brim ends up not being attached to the part, which defeats the purpose. Hi everyone,
I don't know if I'm at the right place but, I have an issue if slicing a particular model type. It is a sinusoidal wall structure inspired by a cuttlefish bone. I would like to print the one line walls with a 0.2 mm nozzle. However in CURA 5.2.0 (and 4.3.0), it has problem of slicing it even after some .stl repair. Each model was made in Solidworks and the walls were conceived with a 0.2, 0.25, 0.28 and 0.4 mm thickness respectively. I tried to print a simple test wall, modeled in Solidworks as well and find out that the minimal wall thickness to be detected by CURA for a 0.2 nozzle is 0.25 mm. However it doesn't work for my model. Therefore my question is : What is the minimal wall thickness of a model in CURA to slice it properly?

Since Cura 5.xx there is a slicing Problem with objects, that are as high as first layer hight.
For perfect first layer calibration I print an object with 0.2 mm layer hight and an area of 100 x 100 or 200 x 200 mm.
(The area is irrelevant for that!)

Since Cura 5.x you can't slice that object, while in Cura 4.x this is not a problem.
In Cura 5.x the object has to be a little bit higher (f.e. 0.21mm) than the first layer hight.

I am wondering, that no one seems to have reported that before.

I think I figured out what is causing your slice to fail.
It's the slicing tolerance! If you change it to middle it seems to be resolving your issue. That's also why I had trouble reproducing it.

I'm pretty new to the 3D printer realm & just got my own Neptune 3pro. I'm currently using the Elegoo Cura V4.8 slicing software that came out of the box with the printer. I noticed there was an update for Ultimaker Cura 5.3. I followed the download link & it looks like there are quite a few files to download. Being the newb I am, currently using a windows PC, I'm assuming I should download the Ultimaker-Cura-5.3.0-win64.exe. Second, is it recommended to also download the "Source Code" file / what is the source code file for?

UltiMaker Cura is maintained by the Ultimaker team and her community members.
Since January 2023, we have a printer profile of Elegoo Neptune 3pro available.

Since we support windows, mac and linux devices, there are a number of options to choose from.

If you are just a personal windows user the .exe should be perfectly fine.
UltiMaker-Cura-5.3.0-win64.exe

The MSI is more of a best practices in companies and schools because it's easier to install on multiple computers at once.
UltiMaker-Cura-5.3.0-win64.msi

I'm not sure if this is the proper location for this, sorry if it is. I've noticed that smart hiding seams, looks to be not very different than random seams since the new update. Is this my imagination or is something going on with this setting? Thanks for your time

Hey @afish0381,

We've made some improvements in the Zseam this release.
If you want to make full use of it you have to change your preference from Smart Hiding to None.
Can you let us know if that works for you?

Hey all not sure where to drop this but I've got an easy workaround for the current Beta issue on Cura 5.4.0-Beta.

Simple Workaround For Missing Material Profiles.

It's pain in the butt but temporary fix/workaround. Open Cura 5.3.1 & export profiles needed then manual import to Beta. Like I said a pain but a lot quicker than a txt editor.

Works without issue and you can selectively import only what you need ATM.
