Option to allow self-signed and invalid certs for testing

Plugin refuses to work with both invalid and self-signed certificates: SSL certificate problem: self signed certificate.

logfile error:

    Verify return code: 19 (self signed certificate in certificate chain)

This means it's practically impossible to use it at home. Can an option be added to make that possible?
