I noticed the following changes:

  1. The first image needs to be changed to the following one, as the gear icon gets replaced by a new icon

settings

  1. Also need to change the sentence "In the upper-right corner of the WordPress Editor, select the gear icon" with the new icon's name

@jennimckinnon @zzap I have made a fork and branch on my guthub account. How do I locate the file that needs to be updated for this page? I have made an image to update, but not sure how to go about it? Let me know what to do next , Thanks

@Tarlsie Awesome! How enterprising of you. Thanks for taking initiative with trying to figure out how to help with this one, and for asking about it.

That's great that you know how to do that. In this case, you don't need to fork anything for article updates. There are 2 ways you can post the update:

  1. Directly here in GH in a comment on the issue, using markdown
  2. Write you suggestions/updates in a Google doc with formatting, then link it in a comment on the corresponding GH issue.

Either way, be sure to tag the lead/rep who's responsible for the project so they know you're done. This is for end-user docs (HelpHub, internally) so you would tag Femy, who opened this GH issue.

The best option to choose is the one that's the easiest and most comfortable for you.

In terms of where you get the details from for the article update, please refer to this image:

image
  • At the top of the GH issue under the title, there's a link to the article.
  • Under the "Updates" heading, there's a list (in this case, with one item) that says what needs updating. There's usually a link to an issue or trac ticket with details about what specifically needs to be changed in the article.
  • Listed under the "General" heading are other items that needs to be completed for the update. Make sure they’re completed, but don’t check the boxes. The person doing the final review will take care of that.

If you have any more questions, feel free to tag me here or in the #docs channel on Slack. My WordPress.org profile is here with my username on Slack listed.

Thank you so much and happy contributing! 🎉 🏆 🍪
