"Would [it] be possible to report the distribution of papers by country or continent of affiliation of the first author. By continent I mean seven regions: Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe, and Australia. Although you may wanna split Asia for a finer analysis."

We could maybe use this data: https://github.com/marekrei/ml_nlp_paper_data/blob/master/annotated_orgs.tsv, but still cleaning affiliations from OpenReview is going to be a difficult task.

Another place to get this info is Wikidata. For example, for CMU: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q190080
