Pitch: what problem are you trying to solve?

I would like to be able to have bar graph reports where bars are grouped. For example, to see the cash flow for multiple months at a time instead of one month at a time. Currently the only option is the total, interval report... but if you select net for that, it shows the deposit on top and payment on bottom. This makes it harder to compare the deposit and payment to each other at a glance. To be clear... it would be best if "grouped bar graph" were just a type of report we could select from when creating custom reports (it shouldn't be tied only to comparing deposits vs payments over time...)

Describe your ideal solution to this problem

The default "cash flow" report solves this problem by showing the deposit and payment next to each other.

Now I would like to be able to do that with a filter and/or with multiple time periods selected (each time period would have two bars touching each other, and there would be a gap between each pair of bars)

If the grouped bar graph was being used for something other than comparing deposits to payments over time... basically the user should be able to select what metric defines the group (usually time, but theoretically could be anything) and what defines each bar within each group; users should be able to select anything they want for each bar. In other words, I should be able to say "for each group, I want a bar that represents net deposit this month, a bar that represents net last month, and a bar that represents net for payee x for the past 6 months and I want to split the graph on groups (set the x axis to show groups)"
