The stop details often show stops for trams going in the opposite direction.

Choose any stop in a particular direction, then choose a route. The listed stops for those routes should be the same, but for any that I've chosen so far, they are not.

Or maybe this is just a peculiarity of tram stops near the terminus. The stops listed are for the correct tram number but in the opposite direction?

So is this only a problem for the tram 'run' list? It can be inconsistent - especially close to the terminus stops.

Yeah, it only happens for the list of stops for a given tram. Tram tracker has the same "bug". Typical use case is "if I get the third team listed, what time will it be at Melbourne central at?" If you're near the terminus, you need to wait for that tram to turn around before you can get that info.
