App crashes, black home screen & missing icons #748
Comments
I know this has been happening, the problem is what is causing those Icons to not render in the app? I know no one knows but if someone does maybe it can be resolved? |
Sorry I'm repeating issues you already know. Is there a temporary fix for the crashes? You mentioned on the other thread yodaluca commented above to downgrade YouTube to 19.23.3, is that the same as spoofing? |
Is there a way we could decompile the YouTube app as much as possible and compare the two versions and see anything that could've changed causing this or are there some sort of logs we could look at? Maybe something is being reported through the network that we could look at through something like MITM proxy? |
would be a good idea but the problem is that it is very time consuming and can take about a few years which isn’t worth doing. but I do know YouTube merged the Module_framework to the Binary in 19.24.2+ |
he may have opened a video with like count hidden. |
no, Downgrading YouTube to v19.23.3 is not the same as spoofing the app. Spoofing involves tricking the app into thinking you are using an older version of the app, which also removes any UI and new feature changes added in later versions that were made by Google. And it also turns off specific A/B flags in Settinga depending on the spoofed version selected. spoofing cannot reverse the problems you are experiencing. so I recommend Downgrading, the icons not being visible issue is a weird problem. |
Stupid question but how do you downgrade? I searched around but I thought that wasn't possible on iOS? Update: I'm not sure this is the correct way, but I downloaded the YouTube v19.23.3 IPA then merged the tweaks as usual via GitHub Actions. The icons returned, however, the app still crashes with long-form videos. Update 2: Disabling RYD fixed the crashing. |
I can confirm that disabling RYD fixed it for me, using 19.2.4.2-3.0.4 on iOS 17.5.1. YouPiP enabled does not break anything I've been able to notice. |
How to disable RYD? and still stay 19.23.3? |
you go to youtube settings -> return youtube dislike -> disable btw build ipa with the latest commit of uyouenhanced will fix for most of videos |
oh thank, just disable return dislike fixed crash. btw, what mean of ryd? how to update ryd (tweak)? |
ryd = return youtube dislike btw you can’t update a tweak on an ipa, im just telling arichorn to update ryd on his repo actually lol |
I forgot to update that repo, thanks for reminding me, it should take a few minutes for it to get to uYouEnhanced |

Additional context
I still have the original youtube app but I assume there won’t be any conflicts? I also tried Youtube Killer Plus before this and the icon issue was the same, as well as the home screen, just no crashing.
