Hello! This is my first post. Thanks for all you do to develop this software.

I just wanted to mention a problem I’m facing when trying to upgrade the software to v18.0beta3. I’m using terminal to download and install.

The error is “version ‘glibc2.29’ not found”. The current version I have installed is glibc2.28. My initial installation was done using an image of v17.0.

As far as I can tell, the simple way to fix this would be reinstalling a new image with v18beta3 preinstalled. That should give me the latest raspbian OS and glibc?

Thank you for the feedback. Glibc is known subject (#262) and you have 2 options: update your system to Bullseye or flash your SD with newer SD image based on Debian Bullseye: fresh HyperHDR v18beta3 SD image or Raspberry Pi OS (although they changed one thing and it may cause problems for some custom setups, it's handled by HyperHDR SD images). It is always recommended to first make a backup of the settings. Since you are using v17 it's very simply to generate the backup on the 'general' page (import/export configuration tab) and restore it later.

Hello, I am having an issue with any version from 16 through to 18beta3 where the boot effect shows perfectly but after that they lights just show random colours and do not match at all what should be there. Even if I just select a single color. I'm using a raspbery pi 3, WS2812B LEDs. v16 I couldn't get anything to work, v17 the boot effect would freeze and nothing else would happen and v18beta3 it works for the boot effect but nothing else after. Please back up your configuration (general tab import/export) and upload it here. And also restore this backup to repair the database. Maybe it will help.

Restored your config (it's broken as I suspected, must restart HyperHDR once again after that to fix it properly), switched HyperHDR service to root, start the service and it looks OK.
Compare first line and the last section.
If nothing helps I suggest you to install HyperHDR v18 beta3 SD image, switch to root (manual in FAQ) and restore your backup (may need reboot).

thank you for the help.
I have started fresh. I installed the 18beta3 image onto an sd card for the pi following the guide on the website. I have managed to get it connected and configured the leds. just basic setup (number of LEDs and type) and I did:
remove the service:
sudo systemctl stop [email protected]
sudo systemctl disable hyperhdr@pi
and then createed service for root:
sudo systemctl enable hyperhdr@root

AND IT IS NOW WORKING!!

Hi I decided to do a tv backlight using Hyperion for a class project without much prior knowledge on a project like this.

I have a similar setup (using WS281x) and similar issue with pipewire and x11 not being supported. I switched Hyperion to root and ran it but that didn't help. Does it matter that pipewire, among other inaccessible packages aren't run under root?
