I am using ownCloud 7.0.4+dfsg-4~deb8u4 (Debian) (stable)
Client is Android 7.0 on a Samsung SM-T585
OwnCloud App is v2.5.0 and works.
On the "Hamburger" menu of MyOwnNotes it says I am logged in with the expected account.
When I try and create a new note it says "There was a connection error." with no more details.
Please let me know what extra details you need to try and find out what is going on.

Also, simply creating a folder "Notes" in MyOwnCloud did the trick. Immediately after that MyOwnNotes synced the notes that were local for testing, also I can create new notes, each of which gets synced into MyOwnCloud, as the MyOwnCloud app shows...
