Establish new Mempool API Operator role #219
Comments
To be clear, this hasn't happened yet. Thus far we've only switched over to a single backend as per bisq-network/bisq#4235. I doubt this role should exist separate from the existing pricenode operator role at bisq-network/roles#14. Please see my feedback at bisq-network/projects#27 (comment). |
@cbeams since our last discussion, we've merged a PR from @cd2357 into master to use multiple mempool backends that averages the results together, and we've upgraded Bisq pricenodes to use multiple mempool fee estimation backends operated by myself and @Emzy, so unless you have further objections I would like to proceed with creating this new role |
There being no further objections, I will consider this proposal accepted and proceed to create the new role which is currently operated by Emzy and myself. |
Now that Bisq Pricenodes have migrated from using the Earn.com API to our own federation of self-hosted mempool fee estimation API backends as part of bisq-network/projects#27, this proposal is to formalize the role of Mempool API Operator as follows:
Mempool API Operators: @wiz @Emzy @devinbileck @mrosseel
Duties: Create and maintain a locally running instance of Mempool backend from https://github.com/mempool/mempool and add your Mempool API endpoint to list of Bitcoin Fee data providers in Pricenode code (can run on same server as existing Bitcoin node if desired) such as https://mempool.space/api/v1/fees/recommended
Compensation: $50 USD / month
Bond Requirement: none
