Yes, this interacts with bibliography citations, but it's impossible to link to an id within the same page. The particular case where this came up for me was trying to link to an embedded legacy HTML table

<table id="_foo_bar">...</table>

MultiMarkdown's attaching an id to a table caption doesn't help style the table with CSS.
