The TreeView provided by VS Code is not really customizable. Implement it yourself.

Current tracked problems:

Multiselect (bi-directional) is not possible
Not possible to change the HTML (rendering)
No dynamic context menu possible
Not possible to select the model
After deletion, the next entry will be selected and that triggers a selection in the editor
