Possibility of creating an API?

Hi,

Since you have a working knowledge of minimap's code base, is there any chance of creating a more user-friendly interface that people could call from their own C++ or C projects? It would be incredibly helpful to be able to easily run alignments entirely in memory, and not retrieve/parse the output from the hard drive.
