'ls' should support the following common operation, known from other OS:

  • -l use a long listing format
  • -R, --recursive list subdirectories recursively
  • -S sort by file size
  • -t sort by modification time
  • -r, --reverse reverse order while sorting
  • -X sort alphabetically by entry extension

ls should always present all files (-a) by default.
