Amazing little thing you have got here, thanks a lot! I am wondering if you are planing to move swift branch forward, as I understand it would allow dark-notify to also run on apple chips computers.

For anyone looking for workaround - dark-notify app work for me on M1 chip through rosetta. All you need is just install it:
/usr/sbin/softwareupdate --install-rosetta --agree-to-license

I installed the app through Homebrew and it works on my Apple Silicon machine.
