I'm not clear on the scope and purpose of this project, as distinct from the website. It seems to be a tool for downloading sequencing data from gisaid, and classifying into lineages? Is there any intro information you can share?

What would go in the config.yaml? Can you share an example?

My main interest is to source richer data for this project:

Thanks!

This repository provides the pipelines/code we use to populate the website based on GISAID data. The main cov-lineages.org website includes a simple way to browse existing lineages and break them down by global location etc, as well as some more in depth information about VOCs. This is the information which the grinch pipeline summarizes. Since the creation of grinch in December 2020, other websites have started to provide more in depth ways to explore features of lineages e.g. outbreak.info so we also direct users there for those details, but the simple interface provided here serves a purpose for quick reference.
