It's a mess - let's refactor it ;-)

Split the plotting from the normal control flow
Switch to the page class used in stations repo (that also enables state)
Think about using a local database (sqlite) to store the actual data instead of pulling from git with pandas all the time (not sure if necessary)
Split to multiple files to get complexity of app.py down
