Currently, the dbt clone command performs a shallow clone. There are cases when we would want a deep clone. To be more specific, I have a case where I want my production model to write data to a specific location (a S3 bucket), not only the metadata. I want to build the model in an STG env, and if the tests pass, clone it to my PROD env, cloning the data.
Who will this benefit?
It will facilitate Blue-Green deployment, in the cases we want to copy the data.
Are you interested in contributing to this feature?
It would be nice, but I don't know how to do it.
