DCO is removing trailing dots from commit author field

Not sure if this is a DCO issue or a Git issue but during the check it removes the trailing dot in the author field of my commits.

My Git config:

[user]
    email = [email protected]
    name = Steven I.

Example commit:

commit 24ccdc87d968571e6c55643989dae7b601e73a83
Author: Steven I. <[email protected]>
Date:   Mon Apr 29 22:17:52 2024 +0200

    Add bitwarden-attachment example

    Signed-off-by: Steven I. <[email protected]>

Resulting summary of DCO:

Commit sha: 24ccdc8, Author: Steven I, Committer: Steven I; 
Expected "Steven I [email protected]", but got "Steven I. [email protected]".
