There's a need for Cosmos to have its own secure official communication platform with end-to-end encryption. Web and Mobile compatible.

  • Communication and coordination is scattered between in different apps/sites which doesn't serve an sustainable or efficient way compared what it could be if the community would have this kind of one for all application where to engage/operate. Also widely adopted apps like Telegram, Discord have issues with the security, scammers/malicious bots are commonplace and out of reach from the Cosmos admins.

-Application should have familiar adopted features like

  • Chatting channels for different topics e.g. Governance, Proposals, Developers, Tech/Core, Validators, Delegators, IBC, RS (ICS), AEZ, General talk, etc. for coordination and that the discussions remains on topic

-Private messaging

  • Proper paid moderation; the conversation must be free, but a warning, cool off and ban should follow for anything inappropriate like; insults and attacks, etc.

-Banning would require approval from several admins to prevent power tripping of one or some other suitable method. Also an opportunity to contact for the admins afterwards if the intention is to improve own behavior. Cause this has been an big issue for long time now and we don't need this attacking, what we need is constructive convo's and unity.

  • Own seperate section with re-directing links to everything relevant in Cosmos and to the websites with paid support. Like an landing section for all the new projects/teams and users where the support directs everyone to the right places and contacts if the links doesn't solve the problem or the need.

  • Cosmos Forum would be abandoned because it doesn't reach the community the way as it should. Many from the community doesn't use it, new posts are often missed and requires seperate checking, it would remain on proposal channel as an sub channel with topics or just as an own channel for example. At the same Telegram and Discord would be abandoned from the official part, which will make the community move to a new platform to stay up-to-date on things of Cosmos.

  • Backdoor for later Cosmos wallet and dapp integrations etc.

*The Emeris platform was supposed to be something similar. I remember that the project was already close to launch. How far did the development work gone and could the done development work be utilized with a modification going forward that would save time and money? Something that could also be taked for consideration?

FWIW, messaging/forums/etc was not part of the Emeris initial plans.

Main features were:

  • Portfolio/Dashboard
  • Send/Receive (both per-chain and IBC)
  • DEX Aggegator
  • Staking dashboard
  • Airdrop tracker

And was supposed to serve as an all-in-one gateway to the IBC ecosystem.

On a personal note, I too feel a better communications (especially with regards to governance) platform is missing.
Blockchains and blockchain accounts are obviously well-suited to verifying authorship as well as encrypted account-to-account communications via Diffie-Hellman key exchange.

Implementaion of such a platform would need to answer the following questions:

  • Data on-chain or off-chain? If off-chain, what entity is handling/storing data? If on-chain, must ensure fees are JUST enough to prevent spamming but very low to promote healthy discussion.
  • What is the data structure for these messages? It should be a well-documented open standard to a) Prevent malicious signing b) be adoptable by existing wallets/dashboards etc
  • What will the moderation system look like?
