Running RedHat UBI (minimal) on WSL | Dougclectica Rebooted

Documenting my exercise in getting RedHat UBI Minimal (as an alternative to Alpine) installed and running under Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL). I was disappointed to not find this available on the Microsoft Store or anything official from RedHat, but following this clear example with RHEL, it’s been easy to accomplish.

Observation: I started thinking about using this as my default/normal Windows shell, instead of Git Bash. But at least one thing I like about Git Bash (so far) is that it's case-insensitive with tab completion on directories/files. Not strictly correct, I accept, but a nice convenience for me.

Also, git on this shell seems to be confused as to the state of a repo, telling me everything is new. Working on that one...

Ah, I apparently had the same git problem with my earlier Alpine WSL instance. Windows/Linux linefeeds
