When running on sbt versions >= 1.4.x, it would be really nice if the launcher here would automatically pick sbtn as the executable

sbt has InstallSbtn for installing sbtn. Not sure whether that is any help.

The full sbt 1.5.0 zipped release is 19MiB and the linux sbtn zipped is 5.4MiB. I think it is acceptable for now to download the whole release and pull out the sbtn binary.
