while researching how to slow-cook chickpeas for hummus & soup, I noted in the recipe:
“Slow-cooked Chickpeas“: https://cookidoo.pt/recipes/recipe/pt-PT/r547263

We don’t currently own this accessory as it’s not included by default in the bimby package.
It’s an optional extra that costs €19

Note: I’m going to make the recipe without the blade cover as I’m going to use the chickpeas for soup tomorrow.
but if they needed to be whole/intact e.g. for curry or salad, then the cover could make sense.

I’m not a huge fan of a plastic blade guard so I kept searching and there is a stainless steel one for €39: https://www.vorwerk.com/pt/pt/s/shop/protetor-lamina-descascador-bimbyr

the clear advantage being that it doubles as a grater!

@iteles LMK your thoughts on getting either of these. Not urgent. Just “nice to have”. 💭

@nelsonic Thanks for opening the issue!

I know both of these products well, just hadn't thought to capture them 😊

The bottom (metal) one isn't a grater unfortunately, that would be both intelligent and cool. It's actually a potato/other super hard vegetable peeler. All it does is bounce the vegetables around on a hard surface with tiny notches for 4 minutes and that essentially frictions off the peel (in peeler mode).

Outside of peeler mode it also functions as a standard blade cover.

You can cook chickpeas and other legumes and grains and pulses in the basket in the bimby but that does limit your quantity a bit. This is why I used a standard pot on the hob with a timer the other day.

I have a helpful ebook from https://blwcompapas.pt/ (website under construction) on cooking grains and legumes with a good table of soaking and cooking times that I can print out.

The Bimby blade protector and the actual grater are on my Black Friday/Xmas list though 😄

@iteles this is definitely not the "solution" to the problem this issue was opened for. 😕
There are recipes that require this addon.

Sorry I clearly added this to the wrong issue.

I thought I'd opened an issue about buying the bimby grater when the food processor broke because I vividly remember having a conversation with you about it and you saying I should just consider a new food processor. Must have just assumed it was this one.

Reopening.
