We identified a problem that under some special circumstance can influence users in an unexpected way caused by this change in PDE:

• Remove irrelevant attributes of plugin element in feature.xml eclipse-pde/eclipse.pde#730

I therefore would currently give a "NO GO" from Equinox/P2, we are currently investigate the issue and possible mitigations.

@laeubi : not sure we can do anything in a short time, especially the problem is not simple one. Reverting is most likely not possible, and a fix is probably non trivial for RC2.

I'm currently working on a minimal emergency fix on P2 side.

@HeikoKlare @iloveeclipse everyone is invited to review, code change is minimal and covered by a test (please maybe also verify) that fails without the code change but succeeds with it.
