At the moment we are using babel 6 across the Kibana project.
Also, as we are allowing the use of both js and ts files we are using 2 different toolsets for those 2 languages. Since babel 7, with the cost of a couple of caveats, we are able to use babel 7 both for javascript and typescript files. That would be a win for us as we would simplify our build and development ecosystem while we will improve the optimizer performance.
