If DoD were to use ELK as an enterprise solution, Kibana would have to first support PKI authentication from the browser users. There is already support for PKI authentication between the backend ELK services, but not from the browser to Kibana. Seems like this would be a worthwhile feature to build into Kibana so that custom solutions do not have to be built anytime DoD customers want to install ELK.
