Your use case

Why does Element have such a chaos-ridden update process?
Several .exe files are always created, even additional ones in subfolders. Is it not possible to perform a normal update process and replace the executable file? In my firewall so always after each update the chaos must be reset.

Have you considered any alternatives?

It uses https://github.com/Squirrel/Squirrel.Windows/ which is standard for Electron apps https://www.electronjs.org/docs/latest/api/auto-updater#windows
