When faced with the mobile guide, step two ("2: Configure your app") is below the fold which makes alot of my onboarders to perform step one only, then sign up with matrix.org instead of the HS mentioned in step two
The reason, apart from the necessary context-switching, is of course that users don't even see that a step two exists.

Get to the mobile guide for custom HS onboarding
Perform step 1
