This issue tracks the work needed on web to ensure analytics events are available to measure the success of Threads.

The primary issue is here: element-hq/element-meta#59

The primary issue has all information and decision tracking.

How often has the Thread panel been opened and where was it opened from?

I'd like to see whether people are accessing the right panel from the Thread Summary or from the icon in the top right. The Thread Panel's view could be either the Thread list, or the Thread timeline.
What we're trying to learn is how accessible Threads are; Do people use the Summary, do people use the icon to view the right panel? It also might already be open...?

I'm not quite sure how we're implementing PostHog and if we're doing click tracking or screen tracking but the answer that I'm looking for is how people are finding the threads right panel.

Thread Panel's view could be either the Thread list, or the Thread timeline.

Alright, the terms are poorly defined, in the code ThreadPanel is the list of threads, ThreadView is a single thread. In Metrics Thread Panel refers to both.

Got it. Happy to change up the request...

How about:

  • See how many users are viewing the ThreadPanel and the access point that got them there: Icon top right, Thread summary> Back
  • See how many users are viewing the ThreadView and the access point that got them there: Icon top right > Select, Thread Summary, Permalink

See how many users are viewing the ThreadView and the access point that got them there: ThreadPanel > Select, Thread Summary from timeline, Permalink maybe?

See above modifications
