Steps to reproduce

  1. I sent 3 msgs on EXI in an unencrypted room.
  2. They appeared to send correctly, complete with local + remote echo (from memory)
  3. Later, i open up the room again, and they've vanished
  4. They're not lost in scrollback
  5. Open up EW. They're not visible there either, at first...
  6. ...but after about 20s they suddenly turn up (it's like sync v2 took ages to show them).

Hypothesis: the remote echo is very delayed due to something wrong on matrix.org. However, even then, the remote echo either got dropped entirely on EXI (if SSS even emitted it).

Event IDs are in the rageshake.

Outcome

What did you expect?

Never ever drop msgs.

What happened instead?

Messages appeared to send, but then vanished. (In practice they did send though).
