Is there perhaps a way to keep a counter across a book to somehow use to number tables? |

Is this an awkward feature to implement, or just not useful @chrisjsewell ? |

TLDR: Is it possible to get table numbering to behave in the same way was for figures when working with
{code-cell}
s? (Related to issues #72 and #243)In mode detail: (Note all backticks are replaced with
'
for rendering here)It would be great to have this:
This is a reference to
{numref}'fun-fish-table'
rendering asTab. 1
.For figures this works, based on discussions in issues #72 and #189, a new way to provide context when rendering figures was added with PR #243 and is described in the docs)
This is great, as it works perfectly in conjunction with
{numref}'fun-fish-table'
where it tells meFig. 1
.But for tables it seems different. I know it does work with for example:
I can refer to the table with
{numref}'fun-list-table'
and get it to render asTab. 1
.Now when I do the following (from the docs):
I get
Fig. 1
instead ofTab. 1
when referring to it with{numref}'another-table'
.Is there a way to align figure and table behavior, or would one need to get into custom rendering?
